At APD Farm our mission is to cycle atmospheric carbon into soil carbon using livestock to accelerate and optimize photosynthesis and the decay cycle. Grazing cattle in a way that mimic’s wild herbivores in nature in concert with their pack-hunting predators optimizes the photosynthetic function of the plants that evolved alongside these ancient herds and carnivores. Healthy, diverse, perennial pasture ecosystems store massive amounts of carbon in the root zone – carbon that was once in the atmosphere. Where the carbon goes, so does water. More carbon stored in soils, means more rainfall infiltration, mitigating flooding and drought simultaneously.
